The early 2000's. Marvel is just starting to figure out this whole "super hero movie" thing. Spider Man. X-Men. So why not resurrect that one-off dark hero flick they made a few years back? Blade gets a sequel, Just in time for Marvel to go a bit overboard. Not "Daredevil" overboard, but...yeah.
